1854-55 QV 'Too Late' 6d lilac & green from base of sheet, roulette 6½-7½ on 3 sides at the GPO. VFU. SG 33(var). In 'The Stamps of Victoria', Kellow states for the 'TOO LATE' 6d: Several used copies are known rouletted, but since the stamp was withdrawn prior to the introduction of rouletting at the GPO (in August 1857) it is considered that these examples must be unofficial. It should be noted, there existed a policy within the Victoria PO, to return to GPO obsolete imperf stamps from external Post Offices, such as the 'TOO LATE', & once returned such imperfs would be rouletted, or from January 1859 perf by the then introduced Robinson machine. This stamp, in all probability, would have been an early delivery to GPO Counter Staff (the stamp was obsolete by July 1857) when staff would have been less familiar with operation of the rouletting apparatus. 2019 Perry photo-cert.
