12573 Click to enlarge photo | £1 Sheehan-McFarlane. A unique 2-3 colour unissued banknote 'mock up' in bright green, black & white with King's portrait replaced by the Australian Coat of Arms. 'Sheehan-McFarlane' sigs & 'Is legal Tender' crossed out in pencil. A Proof collage, printed and hand drawn, presented in a sunken mount, initialled lower right cnr of frame. Was the government thinking of replacing the Monarch's portrait on our banknotes way back then? An interesting thought. Impressive note, brilliant colours. An odd tiny imperfection, mount sl soiled but these faults hardly detract from this magnificent item.
