VF, small edge dents, very large flan. Philippe IV was the 1st French king to regularly issue gold coinage, as previous to his reign only Louis IX had minted one coin in tiny quantity. Therefore, for collectors of French gold coins Philippe IV is the earliest king that can realistically be represented in their collections.
