c1850 2nd Republic Seditious copper box medal with 7 miniature medals (missing 2) (Tribute to the Bourbons). This is the best republic, hd of Marianne/JUS DIVINIUM SALUS POPULI copper 82g, 56.5mm. Very interesting medal with screw thread closer (8.5mm thick). Contains medals of the elder branch of the Bourbons at 10.5mm surrounding a medal of Henry V. Only a few of the honorary box medal are known. VF. A complete set is currently offered on the internet for €1500 while another medal missing one small medals for sale for £495. Rated RR (very rare). Mafeking Siege: 1 Shillings blue & green, January 1900, prefix A, 'Issued by the Authority of Colonel R.S.S. Baden-Powell', with stamp duty 'Bechuanaland Protectorate / One Penny' embossed stamp, with numbered counterfoil at left, showing it came from a special booklet (most of these notes were issued in stapled pads without any counterfoil). P-S651a cat US$1500+++ plus large premium for the intact counterfoil. This originates from a partial booklet ex John Ineson collection, and previously no examples with intact counterfoils were recorded. 2020 Ceremuga certificate of authenticity. Choice UNC in absolutely pristine fresh original condition.
