5857 Click for more photos	Channel Islands - Jersey: 1940 German Occupation 'swastika JERSEY 1940' opt GB Stamp Centenary 1½d. Superb fresh MUH, pristine original gum. At the start of German Occupation, the commandant ordered all stocks of GB stamps be delivered to Bigwoods printery & opt with a swastika etc. However, after objections from Bailiff of Jersey & consultations with Berlin, a decision was made not to issue the opt stamps & destroy all stock. All were then burnt, apart from several sets which were kept for archives or souvenirs. SG JW15 cat £3250++, much under-catalogued as no examples have been on the market for very many years, & only several genuine examples exist (forgeries being plentiful!). The only MUH example known to us. We previously sold the 2d from same issue for $8700 in 2009. Great rarity of significant historical importance. 2013 Ceremuga photo cert. (P)	AVAILABLE at A$6000
5858 Click for more photos	Channel Islands - Jersey: 1940 German Occupation Arms of Jersey 'Etats de Jersey' 1d scarlet design prepared by Bigwoods, both normal stamp & also with 'swastika / 1940' opt. These stamps were prepared by the Bigwoods printery but due to objections from Bailiff of Jersey & consultations with Berlin, they were never issued. Superb fresh MUH, pristine original gum & both matching LL cnr marginal. SG JW19 & 20 cat £6000++, & under catalogued (non-cnr examples in our auction 295 sold for $5800+). Only 2 sheets of 30 recorded of each, & of those many were creased etc, only tiny number of perfect MUH examples such as these existing. Major rarity of significant historical importance.
