1938 Airmail cover Madang (23 Aug) to Wisconsin, USA 'via Rabaul-Sydney-Singapore Hong Kong & China Clipper' but carried via Salamaua (26 Aug) to Townsville (27 Aug, route had changed in July), and Hong Kong (3 Sep) franked 1932-34 Undated Birds 5/- solo franking. This service available for 2 years from New Guinea but appears very little used as other services were cheaper & usually as quickly such as ship to Manila then air or Imperial to/via UK. SG 187 cat £50+ as loose stamp & 'from x2' on cover. Very rare franking & usage. (P)

1939 Airmail cover franked Airmail opt Undated Birds 9d, 1/- & 2/- tied Rabaul 10 Jan cds by ship to Philippines, by Airmail PanAm to USA, endorsed 'Per China Clipper from Manila to USA', the China left Manila on 26th Jan. A surprisingly scarce service from New Guinea as it should have been available from 1936-40 & was often the quickest route. SG 184-86 cat £59+ as loose stamps & 'from x2' on cover. (P)

1939 Airmail cover from Rabaul (22 May) to Germany carried on interrupted Imperial Airways flight SW127 which was delayed by mechanical trouble at Basra, franked 1939 Airs 9d & 1/-. Also 1939 (20 Marginal) Kokopo-Germany franked 1939 Airs 3d (2), 5d (2) & 1932-34 5d. SG 182, 216, 218, 220 & 221 cat £100+ as loose stamps & 'from x2' on cover. (2)
