1938 Airmail cover Madang (23 Aug) to Wisconsin, USA 'via Rabaul-Sydney-Singapore Hong Kong & China Clipper' but carried via Salamaua (26 Aug) to Townsville (27 Aug, route had changed in July), and Hong Kong (3 Sep) franked 1932-34 Undated Birds 5/- solo franking. This service available for 2 years from New Guinea but appears very little used as other services were cheaper & usually as quickly such as ship to Manila then air or Imperial to/via UK.
