1938 (21 May) Oakland Air Mail Week cover USA to Australia bearing 6c (4) & 25c (2), carried on Pan Am 'Philippine' clipper to Hong Kong (2 Jun b/s), where Imperial Airways 'Dorado' caught fire just before departure & mail transferred to 'Daedulus' to Bangkok, there caught IE658 'Cordelia' (7 Jun) but developed engine trouble & mail transferred to 'Coogee', departing 2 days later, b/s Melbourne & Adelaide 13 Jun.

1939 (17 Dec) much delayed airmail cover USA San Francisco to Australia bearing Defins 50c (2) & Prexie 20c (2), carried aboard the delayed Pan Am clipper 'Philippine' which left 3rd Jan then returned due to engine trouble, left again 5th Jan but forced back again, left again on 11th Jan but forced back by weather & mail put on ship to Hawaii where picked up by 'China' but forced back to Hawaii by weather & delayed til 23rd Jan, finally reaching Hong Kong 27th Jan b/s.
