1286 Click for more photos | 1851 Folded letter front franked Sydney View 1d gooseberry-red Plate II with clouds, vertical pair & single (2 with 4 margins, 1 with 3½ margins) all tied by Sydney barred oval, to London with m/script '3' in red sl overstruck by weak 'Paid Ship Letter / Dec 13 / Sydney' & crowned 'Paid / DE 13 / 1851' below. There are 2 things special with this item: Firstly from traditional philately side is that the gooseberry-red is a rare & undercatalogued shade and nice deep examples are seldom seem, especially multiples on cover etc. And secondly from postal history side the 'Sydney Ship Letter' pmk is only known from tiny number of examples.
