Great Britain. 1914-18 Patriotic Souvenir Platter, Etched design to centre of British 'Tommy' with SMLE rifle at the Advance, flanked by an Indian Lancer & a British Cavalryman on horses in mid-charge, shrapnel bursts around, 3 flags behind (Union Jack, French Tricolour, Russian Imperial) & title scroll below laurel sprays: 'For Freedom & Justice'. Pressed tin, chromium plated, 310mm diameter. Minor rust spots showing through. Overall VGC & definitely worthy of restoration. A great piece of patriotic propaganda, probably produced early in the war. |
