Japan 1894-95 Sino-Japanese Ukiyo-e original woodblock print triptych, 'Our Elite Forces Capturing the Pescadores Islands in Taiwan', c1895 by Kobayashi Kiyochika (1847-1915) depicting a mirror image of the battle at night with silhouettes of Japanese figures on the right & the retreating Chinese on the west (35.3x70.4cm). Very impressive design. Painter No 7 directly depicted the battle above the ground at dark but through the reflection on the water. You can identify the pigtails of the fleeing Chinese soldiers through the water reflection.
