RAF. 1939-45 Officer Private Purchase 'Wolesley' pattern solar helmet. Khaki drill cotton (6x seams) over cork body with leather brim binding. Khaki cloth covered zinc dome vent to crown. 3x fold pugaree around body with the RAF blue/white/red flash to side. Green cotton lined interior with aluminium foil on cloth insulation to interior crown. This stamped with maker & trade marks & 1933 patent date. Detachable leather sweatband with crimson silk upper adjuster marked ''Comfortease', Royal Letters Patent No 228467 adopted by H M Govt'. 2x brass hooks for chin strap attachment. Minor moth & stains/service wear. gVG. |
