USA. Army. Helmet. WWI British pattern 1917 Brodie helmet with typical bails of the type used in Britain in WWI. Donut is present but wool liner badly deteriorated/damaged. Has rim protector. Could be salvaged battlefield helmet reissued to US troops, chin strap missing. Has insignia to front of Black Artillery shell on red circular disc shaped background. In 1917 when US troops finally arrived in Europe. 400,000 had to be issued British helmets. Fair condition. Unusual combination US insignia on British helmet. |
