Army. 1914-45 Lancashire Fusiliers Lieutenant Colonel Service Dress field tunic displaying much character. Tunic with leather re-enforced 'V' cuffs (2 buttons to each cuff) in khaki-green barathea, 4 x patch pocket, open collar. Lanc Fus Officer's bronze collar pr & oxidised bronze crown & 'pip' insignia to shoulder straps (these appear to be removable 'wind-up' straps which are stitched down to the shoulder seams, rather than into them. All buttons intact of Lanc Fus Regt pattern. To the chest are stitched the ribbon bars for: 1914-15 Star; British War medal; Victory medal with original bronze Mentioned in Despatches emblem; 1939-45 & France/Germany Stars, Defence & War 1939-45 medals. Lined in brown cotton (with khaki inner sleeves) with hanging tabs. 2 x inner breast pockets & a first field dressing pocket to lower skirt inner front. Sadly no identifiable names or marking. Interestingly, the external waist belt hooks have been replaced by captured German types (marked 'RZM M5/72') - these are in brass & evidently from a Nazi Political 'brown shirt'. Rank changes evident to shoulder straps. Contemporary repairs to areas. A well worn tunic, almost certainly originally made ca 1918 & worn in both wars, updated as required by owner. Light moth to areas. Overall VGC. Scarce, dual war officers service dress, almost certainly worn in the field.
