France. Pre 1900 blue, red & white wool coatee, possibly Artillery or a Grenadier of Infantry. Front closes with hooks & eyes, elaborate braid of gold & blue added later to front & collar, possibly by costume company or theatre. Buttons are crossed sword, English-made plain dome. 4 white worsted Grenades to rear skirt. Coatee has white cotton upper lining & pink or faded red cotton lower lining. We have been unable to establish if this is genuine or an old replica. Minor mothing but good for age. This could be stunning if verified original. |
