Order of the British Empire (OBE Military), 1937 Coronation, France Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur, Croix de Guerra with palm, Cross, WWI Commemorative Medal & WWI Victory Medal to Dr Regional Laidlaw Davies with considerable research & original documentation. Davies was a Macquarie St specialist. When war broke out he immediately volunteered for service but was judged unfit. Determined to do his part he approached French authorities offering the gift of an ambulance & a second given by his family. In 1915 he paid his own way to France & joined the French Army, later transferring to RAMC. He returned to Australia in 1915. Certainly a most unusual group. gVF. (7) |
