1914-18 WWI KIA Trio plus unofficial Gallipoli Star medals by Parkes (4), death plaque (Dead Man's penny), King's message, photos, ephemera & research notes. 17th Battalion KIA. Approx 33 items part of family lot. 1975 PTE: Thomas Harold McCord, Enl June 1915 & died of wounds Sept 1917 in France. Trio impressed. The four medals have been mounted with new ribbons & have been lacquered/plated to preserve them. The Death plaque is mint in its original cardboard holder, with the small memorial scroll. There are 3 period photos of his grave (one in AIF folder), a letter from the British Chaplain (46 CCS BEF) advising family. Poor to good condition. There are 4 original photos of McCord. Two of which are larger size (on card) & two postcard size. VGC. Also 'The Coo-ee Writing Wallet' given to McCord by his mother (as inscribed). Most original contents missing. In the wallet are period photos & YMCA Hut Camberwell postcards, included is a postcard of Gallipoli sent home by McCord's brother(?). This lot also contains research notes & modern photos of his grave. Plus stones from the modern grave site of McCord. (33 items) |
