1803-26 Army of India Medal ('short hyphen' reverse type), clasp: 'BHURTPOOR'. Impressed officially (Royal Mint) 'W. WARNER, 11th, LT. DRAG'NS'. Number 84 Private William Warner, born Okely, Bedford, enl. 24th Dragoons, aged 15, 17/5/1811.To 21st Dragoons, thence to 11th Light Dragoons 1819-1837. Service in India reckoned from 15/5/1834-31/10/1937. Discharged medically unfit 1837. Holes plugged at 12 & 6 o'clock, the latter erasing the last 'R' in name (this plugged, the letter re-engraved), these not distracting from the scarcity of the medal. On an original suspender, with original clasp. With copies of service documents & medal roll confirming entitlement. On original ribbon, gVF. 198 issues to 11th Light Dragoons. |
