Army. ca1890-1900 Rifle Brigade, Volunteer Bn, Officer's Astrakhan Fur Cap (folding type). Black juvenile wool body, rifle green top with black 'Russia' braid figured knots. Black square cord plaited cap lines & corded boss to front. Oxidised white metal bugle-horn to front with mini. Strong bugle badges to side tops. Oxidised white metal Queen Vic crown to boss. Lined in dark crimson silk with calf-leather sweatband. Not maker marked. Comp with patent leather chin strap & with its upright black over black egret feather plume (now sadly missing its white metal socket base/plume holder). Ring at rear to accommodate body lines.. Overall VGC. Very scarce |

Dark blue/black superfine wool lined in quilted crimson silk with gold impressed maker logo & 'by appointment to Her Majesty Queen Mary-Rowe of Gosport, 106 New Bond St, London W.' Cr me leather sweatband with ink size mark 6 7/8. Comp with its correct WWI period tally bullion on black silk/cotton mix: 'H.M.S. Royal Sovereign'. (Royal Sovereign Class Battleship launched Apr 1915 but not commissioned until May 1916. She carried 8 x 15 in guns & 12 x 6 in guns in addition to smaller armament & torpedo tubes). Exc. Comp with all wiring & bell-shaped plug, Type 'G' mask (Air Ministry marked) with Type 48 Mike (AM Ref No 10A/12570), less concertina oxygen tube. Scuff & service wear to leather.
