2272 Click for more photos | 1945 SA & SS Storm Troopers 12+38pf, tied on registered cover by "BERLIN C 20.4.45" cds making this a FIRST DAY COVER, plus Hitler 6pf & 8pf sent locally at correct 38pf franking with "Berlin C2 / 20.4.45" b/s. The last stamps of the Third Reich) were issued in a small number of Berlin POs that were still functioning on 20.4.45, just as the Soviet Red Army was starting their final offensive on Berlin, and very few were used from the 20-24th May, as the last POs were destroyed or captured in the fighting. Mi 909-10 previously cat €2400+ as loose used stamps & unpriced on cover. SG 897-98 with SG footnote stating 'used prices are for CTO, while postally used are rare. These were on sale only in Berlin for a short period before street fighting made further postal activity impossible'.
