10438 Click for more photos | Brazil: 1725-M Joao V (1706-1750), gold 20000 Reis, Jerusalem cross with M's in angles, Minas Gerais mint. 53.78g. KM-117. Graded NGC AU58, unusually well struck and with nice reddish patina, and without any distracting features such as adjustment marks that often occur on this issue. The superb original appearance of this coin actually makes it overall better quality than many of the examples that have MS grades. This is the largest denomination of Brazil's coinage which was struck for only 4 years, but remained in use for large commercial transactions for decades afterwards.
