(7.00g) This a milled edge (not plain edge) restrike, almost certainly struck ca1917 - 19 by Stokes & Son, Melbourne in whose possession the dies were at that time. gVF, large & a small dig near ½.. Around the rim there is a small line suggesting the coin is an electrotype but the coin appears to sound solid when drop tested. XRF analysis gold 43.11%, silver 55.01, copper 1.59%, other metals 0.285%. 19.3mm dia. We can find no record of restrikes in this metal. Extremely interesting piece | SOLD at A$1900 | ||
