The Silver Coinage of Cyprus (1285-1382). An important and highly specialized reference on the Lusignan silver coinage of Cyprus, covering the reigns from Henry II to Peter II and centred on the introduction and development of the gros and gros petit, the island?s principal silver denominations after the end of the white bezant series. Edited by Andreas Pitsillides and Michael Metcalf, this is the definitive volume on the series, based on the long-term study of around 3,500 specimens worldwide and illustrating more than 700 coins in 48 high-quality plates in sylloge format. The detailed text offers a major reappraisal of Cypriot mint organization, arguing convincingly for two principal mints at Nicosia and Famagusta, with possible occasional activity at Limassol, and makes this a fundamental work for identifying, attributing, and studying the medieval silver coinage of Cyprus. A very attractive copy, in excellent shape overall, clean and well kept, and presenting at about EF quality for a serious reference book of this kind.

Unpublished Coins of the Medieval Kingdom of Cyprus A useful and historically important reference on the medieval coinage of Cyprus, this 1980 reprint of the original 1873 edition by Paul Lambros preserves one of the earliest catalogues devoted to the series, covering the coinage of the Kingdom of Cyprus from 1184 to 1571. Published originally by K. N. Sathas in Vienna, the work combines historical background with a catalogue of the issues, and is illustrated throughout with line drawings of the coins, making it both a valuable study piece and a notable document in the history of numismatic scholarship. Reissued by Obol International, Chicago, with the full text in English, French, and Greek, this compact and desirable volume remains an important early reference for collectors and researchers with an interest in Cypriot, Crusader, and medieval coinage.
